Photographing People Part 2

Photographing People Part 2

Photography is about capturing Souls... When we photograph expressions, we can feel the soul of every person. Their face sends us some message which differs by the viewers perception.

Photographers should avoid fear or shyness when they have the camera in hands.
Out of Braveness comes excellent photographs!!!

Let us look at the photos of people which i took during my travel in Odisha and Rajasthan.

Photographing People - Part 1

Most of the people among us go through a mechanical lifestyle these days due to the latest technologies, work culture and various other reasons.
One of the easiest way to break this phenomenon is Photography!!
I like to capture emotions of people. When I travel to take photos, i use public transport and i WALK a lot.
At times, I've even walked nearly 20 km a day. Trust me, this gives a lot of happiness. And most importantly, your effort pays of with photos of beautiful people with great expressions.
Every time I shoot, I ask for their permission first or after taking the pic, i'll show it to them. If they ask me to delete the pic, i will delete it no matter how beautiful that photograph is. This is the most important ethic in photography

Photographing People - Part 1.

When we see the photographs of an indoor photo shoot, we observe the skin tone of the model, fashionable outfit, posing, lighting etc.
Same way, in travel photographs you can notice and enjoy the glimpse of  Natural lighting, Invaluable natural expressions of the people, the natural surroundings and backdrops, various natural composition factors.

According to me, A photograph should not just be a canvas with some colors and subject. But a Photograph should convey a message, it should tell a story, it should make us feel their expression, it should create an infinite thought process to the viewer.

Lets take a look at the photographs.

Arvind Comes big with HIMALAYAN CHALLENGE after a very long break
Yes its Roopkund trek in Himalayas!!!!!!!!!!!!

About Roopkund:
It was such a great experience where one cannot find words to describe the place. People have to visualize it in person to experience it.
Sceneries, summit, trails, enjoyment, pain, friendship, food and everything else will remain in our hearts for a lifetime.
To feel and enjoy India’s beauty, I would suggest everyone to do a trek in the Himalayas

Its My brother and Me while trekking

Here are few of my pictures for you to enjoy

1.       The Twilight Beauty:

After enjoying the white and brown snow theme, we were relished when we reached the Ghairoli Patal base camp with thick forest theme.
This photograph shows the beauty of the sunset through the woods. Shooting during sunrise and sunset can result in astonishing pictures and that is why they are called ‘The Magical Hours’.

2.       The Trekker:

.
This was shot when Co trekker Chandra was crossing a rock in Ali Bugyal
This Silhouette Photograph portrays the enjoyment, pain and excitement which a trekker experiences during the trek.

3.       The Blush:

This was shot while I went for a walk around the most beautiful villages I have ever seen – Didna Village.
This picture reveals two vital elements:
’ The blush’ – People live here are not exposed to the city life. When I asked her permission to take a picture of her, I felt lucky to get that million dollar expression – the blush,
’The Simplicity’- her clothes and shoes on the rack being simple. Their life is also simple and happier with more values to the family and relationships and their pristine life without gadgets deserve a mention here.

4.       The Reflection:

I saw a perfect symmetrical scene in Bedni Bugyal. The lake does a 10 hour job by being a mirror for the mountains. The lake is filled with water from the morning till the afternoon and dries out in the evening.

5.       The Happiness:

‘Make Hay while the sun shines!!! ‘A young and an old lady carrying hay for their cattle in         .
Happiness seems to be the secret of their energy and activeness.

6.       The Camp:

Thanks to Indiahikes for setting up the campsites at the most unforgettable places where you can’t take your eyes off the sceneries.
Sunrays fall on the camps at

7.       The Lonely trekker

A lonely trekker in a trail near Pathar Nachauni camp site, walking alone during the trek is a great experience where you will never feel boredom. To be precise, you will never feel lonely while walking alone because you are accompanied by jaw dropping mountains and heartwarming sceneries.

8.       The Joy:

Co trekker Jayesh jumps in joy as we all summited the Roopkund Lake.
The Feeling and the Joy at the time the Trek leader comes to you and congratulates for summiting cannot be defined by words. You have to be present there to feel it. The efforts and dedication that we have put so far will be repaid by 100 times more with immense joy and satisfaction.

9.       The Will Power:

We spotted two trekkers climbing the Mt. Trishul. Shot from Pathar Nachauni campsite.
It all depends on the optimistic mind and will power which takes us to greater altitudes.

10.   The Kids:

Shot on the way to Wan village,
The kids of the village with an excited look.

11.   The Rest:

Shot in Bedni Bugyal, after a long and heavy walk, a mule rests near the Indiahikes campsite at Bedni Bugyal.
Again a symmetrically composed picture which is always a delight to watch.

12.   The Vacation:

This abandoned house was shot on the way to Bagwa Bwasa. Usually people living here have two houses and they vacate one and go to the house which is downhill due to bad weather conditions.

13.   The Fire:

The campfire at Ghairoli Patal campsite. Being pitch dark, the campfire is the only source of light. A co-trekker holds his camera while the others share their trek experience. Thanks to the TL and ATL for arranging this awesome session.

14.   The Feast

The Mule is having a feast after the walks at the Ghairoli Patal campsite. I was lying on the ground to get this angle and to give the dominant look to the mule.

1          15.   The Sunset

A very rare sight at Bagwa Bwasa, A clean yellowish sunset which is a delight to the eyes in the snow.  Co trekker Shibi was in a delight

1           16.   The Sunrise
The Summit walk from Bagwa Bwasa to Roopkund Lake at 6.30 am. The sun rays are brightly seen over the blue sky because sun is just about to come out of the mountain. It’s very tough to manage the camera and to do the summit walk. As my camera is not weather sealed, I should keep it warm always to protect the battery from getting drained quickly. Lucky to get this shot.

My heartfelt thanks go to IndiaHikes www.indiahikes.in for giving me a life time trek experience and for giving me the opportunity to explore the beauty of India.

ENCOUNTER WITH A REPTILE - Oriental Garden Lizard

Wish you all a very happy new year - 2014!!!!
Enjoy the new year post friends...

The Oriental Garden LizardEastern Garden Lizard or Changeable Lizard

It is an insectivore and the male gets a bright red throat in the breeding season leading to a common incorrect name of "Bloodsucker".

The coloration is very variable, sometimes uniform brownish or greyish-olive or yellowish. Generally broad brown bands across the back, interrupted by a yellowish lateral band. Black streaks radiate from the eye, and some of them are continued over the throat, running obliquely backwards, belly frequently with greyish longitudinal stripes, one along the median line being the most distinct; young and half-grown specimens have a dark, black-edged band across the inter-orbital region.
The ground-colour is generally a light brownish olive, but the lizard can change it to bright red, to black, and to a mixture of both. This change is sometimes confined to the head, at other times diffused over the whole body and tail. A common state in which it may be seen seated on a hedge or bush, with the tail and limbs black, head and neck yellow picked out with red, and the rest of the body red.
